On August 31, 2020, Mahidol University Faculty of Dentistry (MUDT) collaborated with Chung Shan Medical University (CSMU) College of Medicine on organizing an opening ceremony and start-course of “New Southbound Special Need Patient Oral Care” Training Program for dentists and dental assistants of MUDT through an online platform at 301 meeting room on the 3rd floor of the 50th Anniversary of H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Building.

In this regard, Prof. Dr. Waranun Buajeeb, Dean of MUDT, represented the MUDT to deliver opening remarks to all participants as well as a lecture on “Oral Health and Aging” afterwards. As for CSMU side, Prof. Chia-Tze Kao, Vice-President of CSMU together with Prof. Chuan-Hang Yu, Director of Special Needs Stomatology, Chung Shan Medical University Hospital, gave a lecture on “Mouth Cleaning for Bedridden Patients” to the meeting and in the end wrapped up their lecture with helpful practical suggestions for the forthcoming training courses which will have been carried out twice a week until September 21, 2020.

The main objective to be jointly accomplished from this training is to equip MUDT’s dentists and dental assistants with practical knowledge and advice about performing dental care for patients with special needs. In doing so, MUDT staff members and lecturers as well as guest speakers and outside experts are invited to deliver lectures in separated topics concerning oral health care for special needs patients

All lectures and activities involved are supported and supervised by College of Medicine, CSMU as agreed by both institutions in a currently activating MoU on International Special Needs Oral Care Medical Service Network.
