Philosophy and Justification of the Curriculum
    The program is designed to offer educational experiences that promote critical thinking skills and evidence-

based orthodontics through the emphasis of learners’ achievements by means of a learning-centered approach for
self-development of knowledge, abilities, and new skills. The graduate will receive clinical experiences in diagnosis,
treatment planning, and clinical management of various orthodontic problems including patients with cleft lip and
palate and other craniofacial syndromes. The program strives to support graduates in recognizing the evolving nature
of contemporary orthodontic practice by providing a full range of comprehensive clinical experiences including
application of new technologies and innovations in orthodontic practice. This will also equip graduates with the
conquest of ethics and morality in conducting scientific research and evaluating relevant literature systematically.
Such experiences will enable the residents to become highly competent orthodontists according to World
Federation of Orthodontists (WFO) standards.

Program Objectives
    After graduating from the program, master graduates achieve the qualification standard as follows :
    1. Apply principles and theories of orthodontics to treat orthodontic patients with various types of
       malocclusions due to dental and/or skeletal abnormality (Knowledge)
    2. Conduct orthodontic treatment for patients with dentofacial deformities and malocclusions following
       the professional standards of orthodontics (Skill)
    3. Possess moral standards and uphold professional ethics in orthodontic practice (Ethics)
    4. Have characters of good communication, team-working, self-directed learning and stay updated with
       advancements in academic knowledge and technology in orthodontics, with emphasis on evidence-
       based practice (Character).
