Unveiling Forensic Odontology! DTMU Hosts “Forensic Odontology 101” Exploring the Dentist’s Role in Justice

On February 25, 2026, the Continuing Dental Education Center and Academic Affairs section, Faculty of Dentistry, Mahidol University (DTMU), organized a special academic lecture titled “Forensic Odontology 101: From Clinic to Crime Scene – The Unexpected Mission of Dentists” at Lecture Room A3, 7th Floor, 50th Anniversary of H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Building. The event was officially opened by Associate Professor Bundhit Jirajariyavej, Dean of (DTMU), who delivered the opening remarks to welcome participants.

The session was honored by Associate Professor Tawepong Arayapisit, Head of Department of Anatomy and Chair of the Forensic Odontology Training Subcommittee, Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Thailand, who served as the guest speaker.

The lecture shed light on the dentist’s role beyond clinical care, transforming into a “detective” at crime scenes. Topics included identifying unknown individuals, analyzing Bite Marks for forensic evidence, and sharing real-life case studies of working with forensic teams during crises. The event highlighted the pivotal role of dentistry in delivering justice and creating social value.
