Visa and Immigration
International students coming to study in Thailand require a non-immigrant education visa, Non-
Immigrant ED. On your arrival at Suvarnabhumi Airport or any ports in Thailand, the students holding
no matter of single or multiple entries will be granted a 90-day visa for entry to Thailand. As full-
time students, international students need to have a one-year permit to stay in the country. As a result,
you must extend your visa 30 days before it expires. Then, you will be granted to stay in the country
for one year and extend the visa year by year. During that year, students are required to do the
Notification of Residence to the Immigration Bureau every 90 days via the online service on its
website Students must do this at least 15 days before the due date or 7 days after the due date. However,
if you leave Thailand anytime during the 90-day period, then the day count will restart from 1 upon your
re-entry into Thailand.
Filing the 90-day report is fairly easy. You can report to Thai Immigration either in person, or you can
authorize someone to report for you. You can even send the notification via registered mail or through
the online notification. You can file your 90-day report at immigration Bureau Office, Chaengwattana
Road, Bangkok. If you would like to do the 90-day reporting online, please check this link:

Change of Visa Type
Students who have come to Thailand with a “Tourist Visa”, which allows students to stay in the Kingdom
for 60 days, are required to change the type of the visa to a ‘Non-Immigrant ED’ at least 15 days before
the visa expires. However, students are recommended to change the visa at your earliest convenience.
