DTMU Partners with the Royal Society of Thailand to Host Conference on “Health and Quality of Life: Impact of NCDs and Oral Health”

On May 15, 2026, the Continuing Dental Education Center and Academic Affairs section at the Faculty of Dentistry, Mahidol University (DTMU), collaborated with Royal Society of Thailand and Chulalongkorn Centre of Excellence for Parkinson’s Disease & Related Disorders (King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, Thai Red Cross Society) to host a major academic conference. Titled “Health and Quality of Life: Impact of Non-Communicable Diseases and Oral Health,” the event was part of the “Royal Society Educates Society” project by the Academy of Science.

The conference, held both on-site at Meeting Rooms 302-303, 50th Anniversary of H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Building, and online via Zoom Cloud Meeting, aimed to raise crucial awareness about the vital link between Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) and oral health, and how this bi-directional relationship impacts long-term systemic health and quality of life.

The opening ceremony featured distinguished remarks from key figures:

  • Associate Professor Bundhit Jirajariyavej, Dean of DTMU, delivered the welcome address.
  • Professor Emeritus Dr. Savitree Limtong, President of the Academy of Science, Royal Society of Thailand, presented the event’s objectives.
  • Professor Emeritus Dr. Surapol Issaragrisil, President of the Royal Society of Thailand, graciously presided over the event and delivered the opening remarks.

During the conference, esteemed DTMU faculty members contributed their expertise through insightful sessions:

  • Professor Dr. Waranun Buajeeb participated in a panel discussion on “Oral Health and NCDs: Bi-directional Impact on Quality of Life.”
  • Associate Professor Dr. Siriruk Supa-amornkul delivered a lecture on “The Role of the Oral Microbiome on Systemic Health.”

The event gathered leading experts across various medical and scientific disciplines to exchange knowledge and perspectives, fostering a multidisciplinary approach essential for sustainably promoting public health and improving the overall quality of life.
