ThaiHealth and DTMU Co-Host Online Seminar on “Nicotine Pouches: A New Alternative or a Silent Oral Health Threat”

On April 30, 2026, the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth), in collaboration with the Center for Continuing Education and Academic Services, Faculty of Dentistry, Mahidol University (DTMU), organized an online academic seminar via Webex. The session, titled “Deep Dive into Nicotine Pouches: A New Alternative Product or a Silent Threat in the Oral Cavity,” garnered significant interest from medical professionals and the general public.

The seminar focused on providing in-depth knowledge regarding oral lesions associated with nicotine, covering key topics such as:

  • Understanding Nicotine Pouches: An emerging consumption trend that requires close monitoring.
  • Tissue Interaction: The direct impact of nicotine pouches on oral health.
  • Potentially Malignant Disorders: The hidden dangers of nicotine pouches in Thailand.

The event featured valuable insights from distinguished DTMU faculty members, including Professor Dr. Waranun Buajeeb, Associate Professor Dr. Tippanart Vichayanrat, and Assistant Professor Dulyapong Rungraungrayabkul. The session was expertly moderated by Assistant Professor Dr. Nathawut Kaewsutha, Dean of Faculty of Dentistry, Srinakharinwirot University.

This collaboration highlights the crucial role of health organizations and educational institutions in jointly monitoring, educating, and preventing the adverse oral health impacts of novel nicotine products, ultimately striving for sustainable public well-being.
