DTMU Partners with Public Health Center 2 to Pilot “ThaiDER” App, Elevating Early

On March 9, 2026, Faculty of Dentistry, Mahidol University (DTMU), in collaboration with Public Health Center 2, Division of Public Health and Environment, organized an active research initiative on digital health innovation. The event, aimed at improving the quality of life for preschool children and enhancing parents’ oral health literacy, took place at the Multipurpose Building of Municipal School 3 (Thai Ban Mai), Samut Prakan Province.

Mr. Teeraphon Chuncharoen, Mayor of Bang Pu Subdistrict Municipality, presided over opening ceremony for the research project, which is a collaborative effort between DTMU and Thammasat University. Assistant Professor Teerawat Tussanapirom, Deputy Head of Community Dentistry Department at DTMU and the project leader, reported on the project’s objectives. He was joined by Lecturer Dr. Nicha Luksamijarulkul, a key member of the development team, along with local executives, teachers, and parents.

Funded by the Health Systems Research Institute (HSRI), the project developed the Thai Dental Electronic Records (ThaiDER) system. This digital platform allows dental professionals to systematically record dental caries, risk factors, and treatment plans to support personalized care. Meanwhile, parents can access their children’s real-time oral health data and receive proper guidance through the app, ensuring high-standard data privacy and security.

Previously, on February 26, 2026, the research team, alongside dental personnel from the Samut Prakan Provincial Public Health Office, conducted oral health examinations for 83 students to gather developmental data. During the March 9 event, parents had the opportunity to test the ThaiDER app and receive training from DTMU experts, marking a significant milestone in fostering sustainable family involvement in children’s oral healthcare.
