DTMU Volunteers Join “Doing Good as Father Taught No. 8” Beach Cleanup

December 3, 2025

On December 3, 2025, Faculty of Dentistry, Mahidol University (DTMU), organized the CSR activity “Dentistry Mahidol Volunteers: Doing Good as Father Taught, No. 8” at Chao Samran Beach, Phetchaburi Province.

Led by Associate Professor Dr. Rochaya Chintavalakorn, Deputy Dean, a team of over 60 volunteer staff joined forces to collect trash and clean the beach area, aiming to reduce marine pollution and restore the coastal beauty.

This activity not only fostered a clean and safe environment but also raised awareness about nature conservation among staff and society. It served as a continuation of the royal initiatives and teachings of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, The Great (King Rama IX) regarding performing good deeds for the public benefit.

The “Doing Good as Father Taught” project remains a key mission for DTMU, reflecting our commitment to building an environmentally conscious society and sustaining the value of doing good deeds.

From December 21 – 24, 2025, H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s Mobile Dental Service Center, operated by Faculty of Dentistry, Mahidol University (DTMU), deployed its mobile unit to provide dental treatment and oral health services to students and local residents at Ban Phae Border Patrol Police School (7th Cycle Birthday Anniversary), Mae Tuen Subdistrict, Mae Ramat District, Tak Province.

On this occasion, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn graciously paid a royal visit to follow up on the progress of royal initiative projects and observed the operation of the mobile dental unit.

During the visit, Associate Professor Bundhit Jirajariyavej, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Mahidol University, had the honor of reporting on the operations of H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s Mobile Dental Service Center. The DTMU team, comprising dentists, dental assistants, and staff, was present to welcome Her Royal Highness and demonstrate their dedication to improving the oral health and quality of life for people in remote areas.

Digital Innovation Highlighted at the 22nd DFCT Conference

November 12, 2025

On November 12, 2025, a delegation from the Faculty of Dentistry, Mahidol University (DTMU), led by Associate Professor Bundhit Jirajariyavej, Dean of DTMU, began their participation in the 22nd Academic Meeting of the Dental Faculty Consortium of Thailand (DFCT). DTMU executives, faculty members, researchers, and staff are attending the event to present their latest research and engage in academic discussions.

The conference, held under the theme “Digital Technology and Innovation for Future Dentistry,” runs from November 12–14, 2025, at the Kantary Hotel Korat in Nakhon Ratchasima. This year’s meeting is co-hosted by the Faculty of Dentistry, Suranaree University of Technology (SUT), and King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL).

The 22nd DFCT meeting serves as a crucial platform for exchanging knowledge, sharing experiences, and presenting advancements in digital dentistry, all aimed at sustainably advancing dental education in Thailand.

From November 7–9, 2025, Associate Professor Bundhit Jirajariyavej, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Mahidol University (DTMU), together with the faculty executives, lecturers, and dental students, participated in the 36th South East Asia Association for Dental Education (SEAADE) Annual Scientific Meeting 2025, organized by the Taiwan Association for Dental Sciences at the Taipei World Trade Center, Taipei, Taiwan.

In this meeting, Clinical Professor Emeritus Passiri Nisalak, Dean’s Advisor of DTMU, was honored and invited to serve as a committee member and moderator in the session.

On this occasion, Dean Bundhit Jirajariyavej also attended the Dean Meeting with deans from SEAADE member institutions to discuss academic collaboration and exchange knowledge in the field of dentistry among institutions in the region.

In addition, DTMU dental students participated in the Oral Presentation and joined the Simulation in Dental Education (SEAADE Competition), which served as a platform for international dental students to exchange knowledge and enhance their academic potential.

The event also featured lectures and presentations in various formats delivered by international dental experts. More than 60 dental schools across Asia participated in the meeting.

On October 16–17, 2025, a delegation from the Faculty of Dentistry, Mahidol University (DTMU), led by Associate Professor Bundhit Jirajariyavej, Dean of DTMU, participated in the 19ᵗʰ International Dental Collaboration of the Mekong River Region (IDCMR) Congress 2025. The event, themed “Unveiling the Future of Dentistry,” was hosted by the Faculty of Dentistry, Prince of Songkla University.

The opening ceremony featured a welcome address by Associate Professor Dr. Tanit Chalermyanont, Vice President for Planning and Finance of Prince of Songkla University, a report by Associate Professor Dr. Songchai Thitasomakul, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Prince of Songkla University, and the official opening speech by Mr. Worapun Suwannayutha, Vice Governor of Songkhla.

DTMU faculty members were prominently featured as distinguished guest speakers:

• Associate Professor Lieutenant Junior Grade Chatchai Kunavisarut, Vice President for Student and Alumni Affairs,lectured on “Ceramic Implant.”
• Associate Professor Dr. Jeeraphat Jantarat from the Department of Operative Dentistry and Endodontics presented on “Endodontic Retreatment: Beyond the Second Chance.”
• Associate Professor Suphachai Suphangul from the Department of Advanced General Dentistry discussed “Immediate implant placement in molar socket: From research to daily practice, what we know now.”
• Lecturer Munin Chaichalothorn from the Department of Operative Dentistry and Endodontics spoke on “Pathways to Perfection: The Next Generation of Direct and Indirect Veneers.”

Beyond the lectures, DTMU faculty, staff, and students actively contributed by presenting their academic research through both Oral and Poster Presentations. The congress concluded with a Gala Dinner highlighted by a cultural performance from DTMU’s postgraduate Pediatric Dentistry students.
As the IDCMR Secretariat Office, DTMU continues to play a pivotal role in driving academic collaboration among the 20 member institutions across 9 countries in the region.

From October 13–24, 2025, sixth-year dental students from the Doctor of Dental Surgery (International Program) participated in the International Learning Experience Program aimed at enhancing their professional competence through academic knowledge, practical skills, and global perspectives.

The program was hosted at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Dentistry (UTHealth School of Dentistry), USA, where the students participated in various activities including academic lectures, clinical observations, as well as cultural exchange and friendship-building with international students.

From October 13–24, 2025, 6ᵗʰ-year students from Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) (International Program) at Faculty of Dentistry, Mahidol University (DTMU), participated in an “Overseas Learning Experience Enhancement Project” at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) College of Dentistry, USA.

The program was designed to broaden the students’ professional perspectives and enhance their competencies in knowledge, clinical skills, and international communication.

During the visit, students engaged in a variety of activities, including attending lectures from expert faculty, observing and exchanging knowledge in clinical settings, and building networks and friendships with UIC dental students. This valuable experience not only expanded their professional knowledge but also served as a significant step in preparing them to become dentists with a global vision.

Student Voice: Learning Beyond Borders at DTMU

Ms. Kathy Tran, Ms. Celeste Del Pilar, Ms. Bridget Hibbler, and Ms. Brooke Ellis, final-year dental students from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Dentistry (UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry), USA, participated in a short-term student exchange program at the Faculty of Dentistry, Mahidol University (DTMU) from December 15–17, 2025.

During their visit, the students were introduced to the learning environment and facilities of the Faculty of Dentistry, Mahidol University (DTMU). The exchange provided an overview of how the faculty supports dental education, student well-being, and innovation within an international academic setting, with activities and observations documented throughout the visit.

Below are the students’ impressions from their visit to DTMU:

1. Ms. Kathy Tran

I really enjoyed being at Mahidol University because I get to gain a different perspective on patient care and a different global perspective.

2. Ms. Celeste Del Pilar

I really enjoyed touring the school and seeing the different ways the school supports the students like the tea times and how the organizational structure really supports their education and innovation here.

3. Ms. Bridget Hibbler

I was impressed with how the dental school promotes wellness through initiatives such as the sky garden and other spaces that are designed to support balance and well-being.

4. Ms. Brooke Ellis

I was impressed by the school’s Sirindhorn Dental Museum which showcases the dental history and history of the university, and also showcases current innovation and research here at the school.
