Faculty of Dentistry, Mahidol University on the Global Stage Advancing International Standards in Orthodontic Specialty Certification

The Faculty of Dentistry, Mahidol University (DTMU) proudly celebrates the achievement of

: Lecturer Chaiyapol Chaweewannakorn, Department of Orthodontics

who were honored to represent the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Thailand at the World Federation of Orthodontists (WFO) First Global Orthodontic Educators Forum. They were also selected to serve as Table Leaders at the “First Society of Orthodontic Specialty Certification Boards (SOSCB) Symposium”, held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on October 22, 2025.

This historic gathering brought together presidents of orthodontic associations, leaders of professional organizations, and distinguished orthodontic educators from around the world.

The opening session was led by:

: Professor Valmy Kulbersh, Past President, American Board of Orthodontics (ABO)
: Dr. Roberto Hernandez-Orsini, President, American Board of Orthodontics (ABO)

The forum aimed to discuss and advance internationally aligned standards for orthodontic specialty certification examinations, promoting global consistency and mutual recognition across countries.

DTMU representatives contributed key insights on:

: Designing Recertification Processes to support continued professional excellence

They also shared recommendations for adapting certification systems to the Thai context, with the goal of enhancing the quality of training and credentialing in orthodontics to meet WFO global standards.

Participation in this prominent forum highlights the leadership of DTMU, together with the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Thailand, in elevating orthodontic professional standards of Thailand to the global stage.

Both institutions remain committed to the continuous development of curriculum, training systems, and certification standards to align with international benchmarks, empowering Thai orthodontists to achieve excellence and global recognition with pride.
