On September 29, 2025, the Faculty of Dentistry, Mahidol University (DTMU), organized a flag-raising ceremony and sang the Thai national anthem to commemorate Thai National Flag Day, which falls on September 28. The activity took place at the flagpole area of DTMU.
“The national flag and national anthem of Thailand are symbols of Thainess, representing the country’s independence, never being colonized by any nation, and honoring the sacrifices of Thai ancestors throughout generations in protecting and preserving the land up to the present.”
Thai National Flag Day is observed in remembrance of the occasion when King Vajiravudh (Rama VI) graciously enacted the amendment to the Flag Act, B.E. 2460 (1917). The key provision was the declaration of the tricolor flag (the “Thong Trairong”) as the national flag of Thailand, which has remained the national flag to this day. The act was announced on September 28, 1917.
