Mahidol University Faculty of Dentistry Joins the 18th IDCMR Congress in Ha Long Bay, Vietnam

On October 24, 2024, the faculty executives and staff members of Mahidol University Faculty of Dentistry (MUDT), acting as the IDCMR Secretariat Office, actively participated in the annual 18th International Dental Collaboration of the Mekong River Region (IDCMR) congress under the theme “Connecting – Creating – Innovating.”

The event was held alongside the 14th International Conference on Dental Science and Education, organized by the School of Dentistry, Hanoi Medical University, Vietnam. It took place from October 24-25, 2024, at the Muong Thanh Hotel, Ha Long Centre, Ha Long Bay, Vietnam.

In this regard, Dean Associate Professor Bundhit Jirajariyavej from MUDT and Dean Professor Tong Minh Son from the School of Dentistry, Hanoi Medical University, delivered the opening speeches to start the 18th IDCMR Congress.

During this year’s congress, MUDT members played various key roles. Dr. Punyanit Rungnava from the Department of Prosthodontics was a keynote speaker, presenting her lecture on “Artificial Intelligence in Dental Education” at the Dental Education Forum session.

In addition, lecturers, and postgraduate students from various majors such as oral and maxillofacial surgery, oral biology, orthodontics, and pediatric dentistry, as well as undergraduate students and faculty members, participated in scientific presentations as presenters.

The two-day event included a wide range of lectures in different areas of dentistry, such as pediatric dentistry, endodontics, implantology, and orthodontics. Highlights also included the Dental Education Forum, Smile Code IDCMR Oral and E-Poster Presentation, and the Deans’ Meeting.

During the Gala Dinner, MUDT postgraduate students in pediatric dentistry also performed a traditional Thai cultural performance.

The event attracted hundreds of participants from IDCMR member institutions from Cambodia, China PR, India, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam, enhancing valuable collaborations and exchanges.
