On July 28, 2023, the Mahidol International Endodontic Symposium (MIES) 2023, “Penn Endodontic Global Symposium by MIES,” commenced with a welcome speech from Clin. Prof. Dr. Sirichai Kiattavorncharoen, Dean of Mahidol University Faculty of Dentistry.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jeeraphat Jantarat, Head of the Department of Operative Dentistry and Endodontics of Mahidol University Faculty of Dentistry, then provided a report on the organization of the symposium which was the result of a successful collaboration between the Department of Operative Dentistry and Endodontics at Mahidol University Faculty of Dentistry and the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine (Penn Dental Medicine), USA.

This significant event attracted dental experts, practitioners, and dental students from 21 countries, offering a unique platform for international participation. The symposium was divided into two main parts, each designed to enrich the knowledge and expertise of the attendees.

The Main Symposium Lecture, held from July 28-29, 2023, took place at Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre, situated at CentralWorld in Bangkok. During these two days, experts from Penn Dental Medicine led the scientific sessions, covering a wide range of endodontic topics.

The second part of the symposium comprised two hands-on workshops, namely the “PENN Endodontic microsurgery workshop” and the “PENN Endodontic non-surgical workshop,” held on July 30, 2023. These workshops offered a practical approach to enhancing endodontic skills and were conducted at the Endodontics Clinic and the Dental Simulation Center at Mahidol University Faculty of Dentistry.

Overall, the MIES 2023 showcased a remarkable exchange of knowledge and expertise, fostering international collaboration and advancing the field of endodontics globally.
