Dr. Apichai Sirakuljira, Director of Priest Hospital, extended a warm welcome to the representatives from Mahidol University Faculty of Dentistry (MUDT) and Priest Hospital for a meeting to discuss potential collaboration on the Obstructive Sleep Apnea Treatment Project for Buddhist Monks. The meeting took place at the Priest Hospital on July 24, 2023.

The attendees of the meeting included Clin. Prof. Dr. Sirichai Kiattavorncharoen, Dean of Mahidol University Faculty of Dentistry (MUDT), Asst. Prof. Dr. Peerapong Santiwong, Head of the Department of Orthodontics, Assoc. Prof. Supakit Peanchitlertkajorn from the Department of Orthodontics and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Somsak Mitrirattanakul, Head of the Department of Masticatory Science, MUDT.

This project is a collaborative effort to celebrate the 55^th Anniversary of the Faculty of Dentistry at Mahidol University on June 7, 2023, involving the following institutions:

• Ministry of Health, Thailand
• Department of Orthodontics, MUDT
• Department of Masticatory Science, MUDT
• Foundation of Mahidol University Faculty of Dentistry
• Priest Hospital

The primary objective of the project is to provide Obstructive Sleep Apnea Treatment to 55 monks on the occasion of MUDT’s 55^th anniversary. The treatment method involves the use of a Mandibular Advancement Device (MAD), which temporarily moves the jaw and tongue forward. By doing so, it reduces throat constriction, effectively preventing sleep apnea and snoring in the treated individuals.
