The 3rd Dean Summit on Tobacco Control Organized
by Thai Health Professional Alliance Against Tobacco (THPAAT)


On May 10, 2022, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sirichai Kiattavorncharoen, Dean of Mahidol University Faculty of Dentistry, along with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Warungkana Chidchuangchai (Head of the Department of Oral Medicine and Periodontology), and Assoc. Prof. Penpan Laohapand, represented the faculty to attend the “3rd Dean Summit on Tobacco Control” and received the award on “Dental Institution Promoting a Tobacco-Free Thai Society: 2020-22”. The faculty also joined the ceremony of signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Tobacco-Free Thai Society Declaration by Deans of Dental Organizations entitled “Courses on Tobacco Consumption Control in Educational Institutions”.


The MoU’s main objectives are to:

-include tobacco and health in the curriculum

-encourage the integration of the tobacco consumption control in education and research leading to the control policy

-provide various forms of teaching and learning as well as organize various activities for self-study

-encourage tobacco consumption control as part of academic conferences

-encourage practical training with patients/smokers or other target groups

-develop manpower capacity and allocate resources for tobacco consumption control activities, including budgets for the implementation of this MoU


This event was conducted by the Thai Health Professional Alliance Against Tobacco (THPAAT) at Athenee Hotel, Bangkok, with the aim of expanding their cooperation network for a sustainable tobacco-free Thai health profession.
