MUDT Hosted the Yothi Medical Innovation District: YMID Meeting (No.1/2021)

 

On February 8th, 2021, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sirichai Kiattavorncharoen, Dean of Mahidol University Faculty of Dentistry (MUDT), together with his executives, extended a welcome to the Yothi Medical Innovation District (YMID)’s steering committee including:

1. Dr. Suwit Wibulpolprasert, a board member of National Science and Technology Development Agency: NSTDA (Chairman)
2. Dr. Weerapong Paesuwan (Advisor)
3. Dr. Somsak Akksilp, Director-General of the Department of Medical Services (Advisor)
4. Prof. Banchong Mahaisavariya, President of Mahidol University (Advisor)

 

in the YMID meeting (No.1/2021) hosted by MUDT at Debaratana Auditorium, 4th floor, the 50th Anniversary of H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Building.

 

The attendees included executives from Mahidol University’s Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Public Health as well as health and medical institutions, namely Rajavithi Hospital, Queen Sirikit National Institute of Child Health, Institute of Dermatology Thailand, National Cancer Institute, Prasat Neurological Institute, Government Pharmaceutical Organization, National Health Security Office, Thailand FDA’s Division of Innovative Health Products and Services, Armed Forces Research Institute of Medical Sciences, National Innovation Agency (Public Organization) and Thailand Center of Excellence for Life Sciences (Public Organization).

 

In this regard, Dr. Suwit Wibulpolprasert, the chairman of YMID’s steering committee, delivered opening remarks to kick off the meeting, followed by a talk on roles and responsibilities of MUDT to promote the development of Thai traditional medical innovation by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sirichai Kittavorncharoen, MUDT’s Dean. Agendas discussed in the meeting included the YMID’s guidelines to counter the COVID-19 outbreak, this year’s plans and projects for the medical innovation development funding, amendment to the National Charter Center’s Health Charter, a project to develop Ratchathewi – Phayathai Health Promotion District at Faculty of Public Health, Mahidol University and other sub-matters.

 

All the discussions aimed to lead to the conclusion of common guidelines for enhancing the YMID’s efficacy in developing innovative products, medical services, environment and infrastructure and transforming the YMID into a sustainable network to further develop medical innovations and effectively address its barriers and limitations.
